Norway Chess is a 6-player double round-robin featuring World Champion Magnus Carlsen and taking place in the Clarion Hotel Energy in Stavanger, Norway from 7-17 September. Each of the 10 rounds consists of a classical game where a win is worth 3 points and a loss 0. If the players draw they play an Armageddon game, where the winner earns 1.5 points and the loser 1 point. No draw offers are allowed before move 30.

The classical time control is 2 hours for all moves, with a 10-second increment per move only after move 40. For Armageddon White (the same player who had White in the classical game) has 10 minutes to Black’s 7, with a 1-second increment from move 41. Black wins if the game ends in a draw. A tie for 1st place will be decided by two 3+2 blitz games followed, if necessary, by a 5 vs. 4-minute Armageddon game. Official website: norwaychess.no

  1. Nepo: "Final warning… either give up or you will be attacked and annihilated."
    Sun-Tzu: "Not a problem, let's do it."

  2. Why didn't Nepo play Ke5 which comes with a check from bishop on d8 to Magnus' King on h4?

He would have won the bishop and the a pawn for the kids of 2 pawns upfront and then without hands scuffled up other pawns as well with his King and bishop… Surprising. Anyone has any solutions?

  3. I’m low-key rooting for Nepo, he’s like the Russian villain in a bond movie, unfortunately he got completely outplayed in this game. Let’s see what he had prepared for November
    ♟🏆🇷🇺🇷🇺🇳🇴🇳🇴🏆♟

  4. It’s not easy to dethrone Magnus… sure there are players who can match him in any of the time format, but there isn’t one single player who can match him in all of them

  5. Move 41. The horrible confusing ongoing commentary of the game ends with "He went B6 which I don't understand at all." 10:00 Say what?? Deadly 1400 player here seeing the obvious stealing the tempo from black.
Excuse me commentators, may I recommend agadmator's Chess Channel for an example of a sensible, comprehensible proper analysis?

  6. If Nepo wins the world-title, he would made not even 1/10th of the money Carlson would cotinue to do with his name by staying champ. Which means that like in most "one vs one" sports, the money that can be shared is mostly the more important thing. As NATO Norway can pay well, Nepo just needs to fo the numbers if he could earn more as a champ, which I doubt, plus the possibility to loose and take nothing is too big, so I would say nothing special will happen n November, and Carlson will stay champ. An easy victory for the too strong getting Russian state. Even it is laughable, counting that Russia has by experts estimates(wotldbank etc. Western experts) ca. 750 Trillion US $ in earth material richness. They could buy the entire world with it, but, in Russia, the top 10% has 87% of the countries richness, and the top 1% about 60% of all wealth. STOP – DON'T SHOUT TOO EARLY, THE WEST IS EXACTLY ON YHE SAME WAY, OVER ALL US AND UK.

  7. @8:54 Why the hell would you capture the pawn at G4 and abandon the defense of your E4 pawn? You're blundering two pawns for one. Should have captured on H5. What an amateur. And he's supposed to be the world championship challenger lmao… what a joke

  8. Funny how a 2400 rated player is doing commentary and criticizing the play of a 2.8k rated superGM who is also the championship challenger

  9. ja "funny" both going for an old opening! ( the equivalent german saying is translated as: "two fools one thought!" since neither of them will go for it in November, i bet…

  10. Hm, I have been a huge fan of Agad for years, and this commentary felt like work for Agad. This is the first time. Are you okay, Agad? Need a holiday? Maybe a short break?

  11. The strongest possible move you can play with white in any given position and that's ofcourse b4! (Agad's love for Evans Gambit)❤️

  12. Hi computer, my status without thinking is 820 losses and 330 wins Vs Real Chess players from all around the Earth. Russians are the best, but do you ask GM think my result is best, or there is better?

  13. Magnus said in the post game interview that he wanted to torture Nepo a little bit which explains some of the end game gaffs prolonging the game. lol

  14. There is 2 possibilities. 1 Nepo really didn’t see the idea or dangers of B4 or 2 Nepo is giving Magnus a false sense of security by throwing this game.
