The 2022 Tata Steel Masters is a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 15-30 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands. World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen heads the field, which includes stars such as 2020 Champion Fabiano Caruana and Anish Giri.

The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. If there is a tie for first place the top two after tiebreaks then play a 2-game blitz (5+3) playoff and, if still tied, an Armageddon game. The monetary prizes will be shared evenly. 1. A player making his mission to stop another player's rating… That's strange. One thing is to win games over opponents, which he does not prioritize, but rather draws. Even with white pieces. Chess players try to win their games, or most of them, not Karjakin. If they win, then Carlsen will not make it. That is how chess works. Is he trying to get opponents to play for a draw against Carlsen? That would make chess tournaments boring. Even ruin the chess tournaments. Karjakin is a loose cannon.

  2. I played in enough tournaments to recognize a draw mentality before the game starts. You're tired physically and mentally and just want a draw and a day off.

  3. My opinion? which by the way is not even worth a matchbox full of Naval fluff, Magnus was swinging a hot date and was TOLD not to stand her up!!

  4. See this Karjakin who got defeated by Carlsen in World Championship, now wasting time on twitter , and he is saying drawMagnus while drawing ton of games himself lmao😂

  5. It was a disappointment, like pulling up a chair to see the great Mikhail Baryshnikov pair off with Eva Evdokimova only to have them dance the Cha Cha.

  6. The controversial things that happen in chess are just as lame as the controversial things that happen in golf.

  7. I think a lot of people come not just for the chess, but for your analysis and personality – we definitely enjoy your videos, regardless of the game you're analysing.
