The 2021 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Finals is a 10-player round-robin taking place from September 25 to October 4 on chess24, with World Champion Magnus Carlsen, World Cup winner Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Dutch no. 1 Anish Giri playing from a venue in Oslo. The players start with bonus points based on their performance over the $1.6 million tour so far and then play a match each day for a maximum of 3 points. The top scorer after 9 rounds wins $100,000 and is crowned the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour champion.

Each match features four rapid games with a time control of 15 minutes for all moves plus a 10-second increment added each move. The winner gets 3 points and the loser 0. If tied 2:2, then a blitz playoff is played, with two games where the players have 5 minutes and a 3-second increment. If still tied they play a single Armageddon game, where White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4, but a draw counts as a win for Black. The winner after a playoff gets 2 points, the loser 1. 1. So glad to be here this early. A reminder to the person reading this. You are awesome and you matter. Have a good day

  2. Remember the only one rule in such an endgame. When queens are promoted,
usually wins who starts checking like hell his opponent first.
Once you lose the tempo, you lose the game.

  3. Very best natural analysis. Such a wonderful flow to your explanations of all phases of the game. Really wonderful.

  4. Duda won that extremely complicated endgame and I couldn't even figure out what direction the passed pawns will queen in lol

  5. When I played online chess its usually rook and pawn endgames. I've never experience a queen endgame let alone two queens

  6. Am I missing something? At 13.37, after Ke6 wouldn't Rf6 been an alternative? (It's then a King and Rook endgame)
Of course, both are clearly winning, so it doesn't really matter…
Suppose the one Duda chose was more fun, although the alternative might have been quicker?

  7. 13:15 Agadmator: And then he took the extremely obvious move next that we all clearly see and would play ourselves
    Me: Re5+, right?
Agadmator: He of course captured with the queen, leading to a fork for the other queen
Me: oh yeah, black is going DOWN on the board, not up
